Unfortunately we have had to take the difficult decision to stop our workshops for the forseable future…

As our shop becomes busier than we could ever have imagined, it has proved to be very difficult to manage these extremely popular evenings. We will deliver all the dates currently in our diary, but will unfortunately not be adding any future dates.

Learn the art of Fishmongery…

Our fish and shellfish workshops are proving to be extremely popular. Held at The Fish Shop, usually on Friday evenings, they are very hands-on, informal and lots of fun

Cost

The cost of our workshops are based on the fish we use during the courses. You get a good selection of seasonal British fish or shellfish to prepare and get to take everything home to enjoy at the end of the evening

Fish preparation                           £60 per person

Shellfish preparation                 £75 per person

What to expect

We take you through the various species we are working on,              explaining how to select your fish, where it comes from and then how to prepare it ready for cooking. Focussing on mainly wild caught British species we showcase all the best seafood seasonally available on the day. This does mean that the species we work on will change with each workshop, but typically you will get to prepare the following…

Fish Preparation – fillet mackerel, mullet or bream, prepare flat fish – plaice, brill or lemon sole, prepare gurnards or squid and any other seasonal British species that may be available on the day


Shellfish preparation – open oysters, shuck scallops, dress crab and lobster, split langoustine or tiger prawns and prepare king prawns

You get to take home all the seafood you have prepared and we give you some tips on cooking, so you can really enjoy all your hard work
