Irish Mackerel

There is tinned mackerel… and then there is really good tinned mackerel. Shines take beautiful mackerel and turn it into something worthy of a place in the posh end of the cupboard. Generous, meaty fillets are carefully prepared, skinless and boneless, then preserved simply so the rich flavour and fabulous texture of the fish remain the star. Naturally rich in Omega 3 and packed with protein, mackerel is one of the great oily fish – full flavoured, wonderfully succulent and far too good to be thought of as merely a convenient standby. Choose from Olive Oil, Brine, Spring Water, Tomato Sauce, or our rather fabulous Hot Smoked Irish Mackerel with Cracked Black Peppercorns. Perfect piled onto warm toast, flaked through salads or pasta, served with good bread and pickles, or eaten straight from the tin when nobody is looking. Five different ways to enjoy a cracking little fish. Did You Know... Mackerel is naturally one of the richest sources of Omega 3, and its higher natural oil content is exactly what makes it so good for preserving. Rather than becoming dry and dull, good-quality mackerel stays beautifully moist, rich and full of flavour. Definitely not your average tin of fish.
