Possibly Britain's favourite fish and certainly the nation's most iconic seafood species, Cod has earned its place on fish counters for generations.

Our beautiful large Cod sides are delivered fresh each morning before being expertly trimmed, filleted and pin-boned by #TeamFish. We always select the thickest, chunkiest portions for our customers, reserving the thinner tail sections for fish pies, fishcakes and other prepared dishes.

With its large flakes, delicate flavour and wonderful versatility, Cod is equally at home in a traditional fish and chips supper, a family fish pie or an elegant dinner party dish.

Much of our supply comes through Newlyn, although when conditions dictate we will occasionally source exceptional Cod from other parts of the UK, including Shetland, ensuring our customers continue to receive the quality they expect. Whether baked, roasted, poached, pan-fried or battered, few fish are as adaptable as Cod.

The nation's favourite for very good reason.

Did You Know...
Cod is one of the most carefully managed fish species in the world. Every year, scientists assess individual stocks and governments set catch limits designed to reflect the health of the fishery. These quotas can increase or decrease over time, which is one of the reasons Cod prices and availability can vary from year to year.

We believe it's important to support well-managed fisheries and the fishermen who work within them. While discussions around seafood can sometimes become oversimplified, the reality is often far more complex than a simple 'good' or 'bad' label.

For generations, Cod has been one of Britain's favourite fish and remains an important species for many fishing communities around the UK.

Great seafood starts with great fishermen.

Sue's Herby Garlicky Crusted Cod

We really love this take on a Sophie Grigson recipe. It's quick, easy and utterly delicious.

And don't get too worked up about quantities. If you like things super-garlicky, fill your boots. Like more parsley? Throw some more in. This is one of those recipes that's very forgiving.

Method
Season your cod portions with a little sea salt and freshly cracked black pepper.

In a bowl, mix together fresh white breadcrumbs, chopped parsley, garlic, lemon zest, salt and pepper. Add a generous squeeze of lemon juice and enough melted butter to bring everything together. Give it a good mix with your fingers.

Place the cod in an ovenproof dish and firmly press the breadcrumb mixture onto the top of each portion to create an even crust.

Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C for around 18-20 minutes, until the fish flakes easily and the topping is golden brown.

Serve with buttery new potatoes, seasonal vegetables or a simple green salad.

Simple ingredients, very little effort and a cracking piece of Cod.
