Our Charities

As well as donating raffle prizes to some local schools and some of our customers’ local charity events, we support a few other very worthwhile charities that play a big part in our industry

The Fishermens Mission

#TeamFish actively support The Fishermen’s Mission which is the only fishermen’s charity that provides emergency support alongside practical, financial, spiritual and emotional care, helping all fishermen, active or retired and their families. Over many years we've helped to raise funds and awareness for this very worthwhile charity and were very proud to be awarded their Outstanding Achievement Award in 2013. The Fishermen’s Mission.
The Fishermen's Mission plays a critical part in ensuring the safety, welfare and livelihood of fishermen and their families. Donation boxes can be found in the shop, and we personally match every penny donated. We run 3 or 4 charity raffles throughouyt the year to raise some much needed funds for this very worthwhile charity.
Our total donations to date are over £18,000 and we hope to acheive £20,000 by the end of our 10th year. We're very proud to know that our fundraising really does make a difference

The National Lobster Hatchery

We started to support the great work of the Lobster Hatchery in 2023 and have raised thousands of pounds since then. Working with fishermen to catch female lobsters with eggs, keep them safe and allow them to succesfully hatch the eggs and then release the baby lobsters back into the sea around Cornwall, this charity is doing everything it can to try to encourage the ongoing sustainability of this important species. Every time you buy one of our dressed lobsters, we make a donation, so its very much a win win!

The Fishmongers' & Poulterers' Charity

FPC

Sue is a very proud to be a trustee of this charity which was founded in 1835 to alleviate hardship among members of its namesake trades.
Since it’s foundationby two of the City of London’s ancient food Liveries, the Fishmongers’ & Poulterers’ Charity has been giving assistance to people who had worked in these two trades and found themselves struggling financially. Although applicants need no longer be members of either Livery, the Institution retains links with each company through their representative Trustees.
In the past help was often given by providing almshouse accommodation. However, nowadays help is given through the discretionary awarding of grants. The Trustees consider each case on its merits. Recently we have helped applicants buy mobility scooters, adapt their homes to make them more disability-friendly, or provide a respite holiday for a long-term carer. We only have limited funds so we will often make grants in collaboration with other charities to reach a larger total and preference is giving to applicants who have spent at least 10 years in the trade
