Easter 2025

HAPPY EASTER!

The online order book has now closed for collections over the Easter Weekend, but we will still have lots of fish and shellfish available for you to come and select from our counters. We open at 8am each morning and we'll have good availability at the start of each day, but with many people visiting we will run out of things as the morning progresses. On Friday and Saturday we will be closing at 1pm

You can send a text to 07354 849465 to find out about availability, but please bear in mind it is going to be really busy in the shop so I will respond as soon as I can but it may be 'after hours'.

If I don't see you over the weekend, I hope you have the most wonderful Easter, and remember, we will be closed on Tuesday 22nd due to Bank Holiday Monday.

When we say chunky, we mean chunky. Our fabulous skate is so thick, one wing weighs well over a kilo and will serve around 4 people. Although called skate, it is actually rays that are now caught and sold and ours are either Blonde Rays or Thornbacks, which are the larger of the species. The beauty of thick skate is the amount of meat that you get. A really popular fish with our customers, if you love skate, you’ll definitely be impressed with these

Skate with Black Butter is one of the classic recipes for this fabulous fish.

Because our skate is so thick, we recommend pan-frying to get it a little crispy, then popping in the oven to finish off.

Add a little rapeseed oil to a pan and once hot, pop in the skate. Cook for 2-3 mins each side, then transfer to the oven for around 10 - 12 mins.

Once the wings are almost cook add a big blob of butter to the pan you used to fry them, let that melt down and turn a nutty brown. Add lots of capers, chopped parsley and a good squeeze of lemon juice. Plate the wings covered with the buttery sauce and serve

Allow 300g per person for a generous portion
