Coquille St Jacques

A fabulous starter or light lunch, our Coquille St Jacques are a true classic and one of those dishes that never goes out of fashion.

Succulent chunks of scallops are enveloped in a rich, creamy cheese sauce before being nestled into natural scallop shells. Each one is finished with a generous piping of buttery mashed potato and a light panko crumb topping, ready for the oven.

Beautifully presented and wonderfully comforting, these are perfect for dinner parties, special occasions or simply treating yourself to something a little indulgent.

'Coquille St Jacques' translates from French as 'Shell of St James'

The scallop shell became the symbol of pilgrims travelling the Camino de Santiago in Spain and remains one of the most recognisable symbols in European food and culture today. It's also why scallop shells often feature in artwork, architecture and even road signs across Europe.

A dish with centuries of history behind it.

Preheat your oven to 180°C Fan.

Place the Coquille St Jacques onto a baking tray and cook for approximately 20 minutes, or until piping hot throughout, golden on top and bubbling around the edges.

Allow to stand for a minute or two before serving.

Serving Suggestions
Perfect as a starter with a crisp green salad and warm crusty bread.

For a light lunch, simply serve with seasonal vegetables or a fresh tomato salad.

A chilled glass of white wine wouldn't go amiss either.
