Although we’re hugely proud to showcase the very best of fresh British seafood, there are times when frozen really is the right choice, especially for certain shellfish.
Prawns are one of our most popular products, but since most species aren’t indigenous to the UK, we have to look further afield. The exception is our own native Langoustine, caught off the Scottish coast which is the highest-value species in the UK fleet and the true “scampi” of Britain.
When it comes to imported prawns, we only buy from our trusted suppliers who freeze at source and import directly to the UK, locking in quality and freshness within hours of the catch or harvest. It’s the only way to ensure the prawns reach us in perfect condition. Transporting them fresh across continents would simply compromise the quality and that’s something we’ll never do.
We buy only the best available, from plump King and Tiger prawns caught in the warm waters around South America and Indonesia, to the sweet, delicate Cold-Water prawns from Iceland and Greenland.
You’ll often see defrosted prawns on our counter, ready to cook, but if you like to keep some on hand, we also offer whole bags straight from our freezer - ideal for stocking up at home.

We don’t freeze anything ourselves, every frozen product we sell has been frozen at source by specialists who know how to preserve seafood properly.
Frozen doesn’t mean second-best - it means access to products from around the globe that are perfectly preserved at their peak.
